This bulletin presents the human rights situation in Burundi during the week of June 8 to 14, 2026. In this report, the Iteka League also examines the political, security, judicial, and governance context. It also analyzes illustrative cases of violations of civil and political rights that marked this week.
The human rights violations observed and documented by the Iteka League are as follows: at least 8 people killed, including 7 bodies found lifeless, among which 4 were children; 2 people kidnapped, and 1 case of arbitrary arrest and imprisonment.
The main suspects in these violations are administrative officials, police officers, soldiers, and young Imbonerakure from the ruling party, CNDD-FDD. Read more
