Weekly bulletin Iteka n’Ijambo n°500

This bulletin presents the human rights situation in Burundi during the week of November 10 to 16, 2025. In this report, the Iteka League also examines the political, security, judicial, governance, and environmental context. It also analyzes illustrative cases of violations of civil and political rights, economic, social, and cultural rights, as well as specific rights, in particular the rights of children.

 The human rights violations observed and documented by Ligue Iteka are as follows: at least 16 people killed, including 15 found dead and one killed by state agents, six people arbitrarily arrested, and two children injured. Six other people died, four as a result of river currents, one as a result of storms, and two others as a result of suicide.

Among the victims, there is one case of a minor who committed suicide, one minor who was killed, one minor who was a victim of domestic violence, and one woman who was killed.

Imbonerakure, SNR agents, police officers, and administrators are accused of being the main alleged perpetrators of these human rights violations. Read more
