The joint report by these two organizations, both renowned for their commitment to human rights, addresses fundamental aspects of the organization of Burundian society in general, and more specifically, the administration of criminal justice.
Based on concrete analysis, though certainly not exhaustive, situations experienced by citizens detained in Burundian prisons, the report highlights two irregularities that violate the very foundation of Burundi’s fundamental legal order: the Constitution of the Republic and international human rights law.
