This bulletin presents the human rights situation in Burundi during the week of April 6 to 12, 2026. In this report, the Iteka League also examines the political, security, judicial, economic, governance, and environmental context. It also analyzes illustrative cases of violations of civil and political rights, as well as category-specific rights.<\/p>\n
The human rights violations documented and reported by the Iteka League are as follows for this period: at least 3 people killed, including 2 found dead and 1 newborn killed by its mother, 2 victims of GBV, including one raped girl, as well as 2 people abducted.<\/p>\n
Members of Imbonerakure from the ruling party CNDD-FDD, agents of the SNR, police officers, and administrative officials are accused of being the main alleged perpetrators of these human rights violations.
