This bulletin presents the human rights situation in Burundi during the week of February 2 to 8, 2026. In this report, the Iteka League also examines the political, governance, security, judicial, and environmental contexts. It also analyzes illustrative cases of violations of civil and political rights, economic, social, and cultural rights, as well as specific rights, in particular the rights of children.<\/p>\n
The allegations of human rights violations observed and documented by the Iteka League for this period are as follows: at least seven people killed, including five whose bodies were found, and two victims of torture. Two infanticides were reported during this reporting period.<\/p>\n
Imbonerakure members of the ruling CNDD-FDD party, police officers, and administrators are accused of being the main alleged perpetrators of these human rights violations.
